Sustainable

& Conscious

Highest quality coffee using best sustainable agriculture practices.

There are 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Those goals are to be achieved around the world, and by all UN member states, by 2030. This means that all states are called upon equally to play their part in finding shared solutions to the world's urgent challenges. SOMAHO's actions influence three SDGs in Europe as well as in Africa.

Gender Equality

Goal 5: Achieve gender equality and empower all women and girls

Coffee production and the direct coffee trade of specialty coffee from Rwanda are in the hands of women from Rwanda at SOMAHO. There is a 0% gender pay gap and flexible working arrangements are offered for parents, including variable workloads and working days. SOMAHO is committed to equal rights to economic resources for all people. It also facilitates access to the labor market for people, especially parents, who want to work in low-paid jobs.

Responsible Consumption and Production

Goal 12: Ensure sustainable consumption and production patterns

The use of recyclable packaging aims to significantly reduce the amount of waste generated through recycling. In addition, SOMAHO uses Instagram and newsletter content to provide carefully researched information about the value chain in the coffee industry.

Partnerships for the goals

Goal 17: Strengthen the means of implementation and revitalize the Global Partnership for Sustainable Development

Through the purchase of green coffee and our efforts to sell this coffee, exports to Rwanda are increased. Through our contract with Kivubelt, we promote a fairer trading system. SOMAHO also promotes sustainable and transparent trade relations.
